So i shuffled into Blockbuster today to get a movie to rent. I wandered the isles and saw some movies i was interested in seeing, but very few or no VHS copies of those titles. Rather annoying, I thought. I finally found something in VHS and went to check out. Curious, i asked the cashier if they had VHS copies in any of the other titles i was looking for. I then found out that they would no longer be getting VHS shipments in. Well then.
This bugged me. Perhaps i am the only one left with a VCR in Charlottetown, but this predicament certainly will now limit my choices of not only the movies i can rent but where i can rent movies. My family does own a DVD player, but it's much easier (and quieter) for me to grab a VHS and go downstairs and curl up on the couch, then to announce to my family that i will be stealing the TV/DVD player for the night.
In my opinion Blockbuster is running ahead of their times a bit. I realize that many families do have DVD players now, but this is not everyone, and may people still have both. After all, it's rather difficult to tape your favorite show with a DVD player.

Hmm, good point on the taping..but I guess they also think we can find it online or on satellite in a minute (and I don't really have access to either of those...) Stratford VIDEO is a great place for VHS, and maybe Variety Video too? And of course, That's Entertainment always has the selection!
