I recently decided to use up some of the seeds I had leftover from my garden this summer. It has resulted in a series of small pots lined up on the kitchen windowsill. The first is a cactus that was left to us from the previous tenants. He's doing well. The next (i think) is the leftover yellow bean seeds. Right now it looks like a pot of dirt...I'm hoping i can convince the plant to grow, and then climb up and around the window with a bit of guidance. It's a nice thought, we'll see. The next is CATNIP!!!!! The cats haven't figured that out yet. It presently has one tiny green sprig sticking out of it. I refused to plant it outside this summer as we already had too many stray cats wandering in the area. They didn't need incentive to hang out and torment Tess and Thomas. The third is cinnamon basil, because i ran out of regular basil... The last is parsley that i started inside last spring and never put outside. Then i decided i liked it inside.
That is my gardening adventure for the next little while. I think i'd be classified as having a "black thumb" or whatever is the extreme opposite of a "green thumb" but i'm willing to take the chance on these little pots and see what i can grow while the snow falls outside. Tess just sits there and laughs at me... just wait until she figures out there is catnip in one of them!!

And good to you! Let me know how the winter gardening goes, since us "black thumbs" (or "plant killers" as I like to call myself) need all the help we can get!
