There is something to be said for being able to take your notes, laptop, and tea to curl up in bed with your dog and write a paper. It's the most relaxing way to write a paper I've found so far. As long as i don't get to comfortable that is. . .then I fall asleep and get nothing done.
Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd
Hello,
My name is Orientalism and I, along with my counterparts of Feminist and Postcolonial theory, will be taking over Maria for the remainder of the semester. Rest assured that we will let her out to play periodically and maybe even let her think on her own once and a while. This is not a hostel takeover.
Sincerely,
Orientalism
Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance
It was a pretty crappy week. Not horrible mind you, just one of those weeks that nothing seems to go right. Thankfully the weekend came by and it's been a pretty good one. Relatively quiet, but productive. I feel good coming off a productive weekend. Hopefully the trend will continue as i have a ton of stuff to get done before break.
Why is it that you can have a whole lot of things to say but when you are finally confronted nothing comes out right?
Shot Shot
101 Uses for a Shot Glass
This is my new friend Phyllis. She likes my shot glass. She likes to play with her food. She likes to make faces at me. I like Phyllis an awful lot.
(before you go calling the humane society i'll let you know that she does live in a real fish tank, she just spends the time when i'm cleaning it in a shot glass)
Pushing the Buttons
I'm not sure if i'm just in full procrastination mode, really bored, or just easily entertained but this is just too much fun.
Diggin in the Carpet
Notice all you religious blog readers that my blog has now been Diggified. See it? Scroll down to my Links, and check out the ever changing list of things I have Dugg. "Dugg" you ask? Yes. For those of you who don't know about it. This "Digging" and "Dugging" comes from the site digg.com. It's an ever updating tech news site. It's a great site for the ever procrastinating technology inclined student, the Mac geeks like me. I have to say I have become a regular. I have myself an account so I can "digg" things. I even have a few friends on my friends list which makes it super easy to see what they have been digging. They even have a podcast. Woot! That is my pitch for the week. . .
But can I really sign off without telling everyone to check out the Macworld Keynotes Address.
Pictures in an Exhibition
Over the holidays i was playing with my fathers new iMac. It has a program on it called Photobooth. You sit in front of the computer (it has iSight built in) and you can take normal pictures, or use the built in special effects to take not so normal pictures. Here are some of the results.
Mike and I with rather large heads.
Mike has had some plastic surgery over the holidays.
Mike and I as aliens.
I think I'm happy.
Lucky guy? or in twice as much trouble?
Red Hand Case
I am proud of myself. I remembered to set the date to 2006. A new year. Everyone will turn another year older, and most people will go about life in much of the same way as last year.
I started new classes today. It was very odd starting on a Tuesday. So far they all seem interesting. None of them made me want to cry. . .yet. That is all i have to say.
The Christmas Song
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
I had a good Christmas, though I like to think it's not over yet. Santa found me. I have lots of books to read now:) and some new Paderno baking things. If you are in the right place at the right time you may just get brownies from my new brownie pan.
I was able to preform a most excellent Christmas surprise for my Dad with the help of John from The Little Mac Shoppe . We now have a new addition to our Mac family. It has yet to be named. It was a good Christmas for it too as my little sister has been sick and was in the hospital until about an hour ago. (She's feeling a bit better now:).
I have decided that one of my favorite things about Christmas is giving someone the perfect present. I'm thinking i did that for a couple people this Christmas.
I would also like to formally welcome Ox to my family. :)
Tell Me Something I Don't Know
I went into my bank today and the conversation went something like this:
Bank Employee: What is your DOB?
Me: September 5th '84.
A few minutes later
Bank Employee: So when did you turn 21?
Me:(Confused stare)
Bank Employee: In September?
Me: Yes.
