I don't mean the one in the sky, nope, we are moving. It wasn't planned, we weren't looking, but an opportunity came up, and we will be moving the few blocks to Fitzroy st. It will be a quieter location, we won't have to listen to the Legionettes sing "You are my Sunshine" 3-4 times every Sunday afternoon in the warmer months. We'll have no one below us, no one above us (not that we do now anyhow) and only one other couple sharing the building (house actually). We will also have a yard! Whooo. Lou will be thrilled. We move the end of this month.
It will be a busy month ahead. There is Easter this weekend. Then Mom is away to see Suzanne and her furkids, so Lou and I will be living at his house for 12 days, while we run back and fourth to the apt. so I can pack for the move. I'm also trying to plan another Apple event for early May, and we have some other plans in the making at work too that are keeping me out of trouble. I won't be bored.
For the past number of weeks I have been participating in a self designated CAKE DAY every Thursday. I have been going to Leonhards Cafe and trying some of their many delicious cakes. When I have exhausted those options I'll be frequenting the other bakery's and cafe's in town. There is so much delicious cake out there I believe it's my obligation to try it all. This day makes me oh so very happy. I get to enjoy sugary goodness and I have something to look forward to. I highly recommend everyone join me in Cake Day Thursdays!

This is Tess. We adopted her yesterday from the
PEI Humane Society. She is almost 4 years old, and was surrendered to them in November. She's settling in nicely, and loves to purr. Thomas is enjoying having her too!

For the past week we have had a rabbit. He is not a permanent resident, I'm merely taking care of him for a friend. Bindy and I go way back, but this is the first time he's come to stay at my place. It's been a very interesting week at the apt. Bindy had been pretty well behaved, don't get me wrong, but it's been very entertaining watching him interact with Thomas. I could sit and watch them all day. Thomas had never met a rabbit before Bindy. The first time he saw the rabbit he "poofed" (aka his fur stood on end all over). It took him about 20 minutes to return to normal size, brave kitty.
The first night Bindy was with us Thomas spent the evening outside his cage watching him like a t.v set.

Since then they have both been loose in the apartment. For the first few days Thomas watched Bindy intently from a distance. Lately he's become more comfortable and started "chasing" the rabbit (aka he runs after Bindy when Bindy runs but does not know what to do when Bindy stops and just sits there). Bindy is indifferent and does not play back. Thomas will "tag" Bindy like he does with us by tapping us with his paw, but Bindy does not understand this game. Thus, Thomas is left to play his games on-sided. It's rather sad to watch.
When Bindy is not in his cage thomas will gingerly step in and sniff around in this mysterious creatures dwelling (cage). He's tasted his water and smelled his food. He will watch with interest when Bindy is eating, and seems fascinated by the long ears. It's the first thing he tried to touch.

Tomorrow Bindy will go home, i wonder if Thomas will be sad.
I'm a slacker and I've gotten behind in my birthday and gotcha day shout outs. January began with Phyllis's 3 year anniversary of her gotcha day* on the 7th. This was followed by Squishy's 2 year gotcha day on the 12th. They are super special girls and i'm very glad i have them.
Next came my Dad's birthday on the 13th. I won't post an age as according to him he no longer has birthdays and thus seems to think he no longer ages. I'd take the cake over the not aging any day. On a side not, he was not deprived and i gave him cake anyhow.
Sweeney had his one year gotcha day on the 22nd. It feels like he's been in the family for much longer. This was closely followed by Lou's 12th Birthday. We had cake. He got spoiled as usual. I have the best dog ever.

Now we are into February. In a few weeks, on the 19th Pyper has her gotcha day. Happy gotcha day in advance Pyper! Make sure Peanut is nice to you and that you get lots of treats. Then on the 27th Pyper's dad Cam had his birthday. I hear he's old now, but i won't hold it against him.
I think today I'd rather be bundled up and out at Robinson's Island with my puppy.
* A gotcha day is the anniversary of the day you got said creature. These days often replace birthdays in the case of animals whose birthdays are unknown.
Mike and I just got back from San Francisco on Friday. I was at Macworld. It was nuts, and pretty awesome. I'm trying to get back into a normal pattern now. What fun.

One week from today is Christmas Day. Yay! With any luck the next week will be filled with good food and visits with friends and family. Then Santa comes (don't you dare tell me he's not real). Suzanne and Cam fly home on Christmas day. Then there will be more merry making and visiting and eating... It's what the holidays are all about right? I'm looking forward to having a few days of to sleep in, and seeing all of my favorite people.
Then, just when you think its time to get back to the regular grind of the work week, Mike and I fly off to San Francisco for Macworld. Woot! I'm excited. This will be my first time going, and is made more monumental by knowing that this is the last Macworld that Apple will be participating in.
The next few weeks promise to be fun (merry making with friends and family!, Macs!), stressful (traveling in strange city), and a bit sad (people leaving who have been home for too short a time, and people who are not able to celebrate with us that we are missing terribly).
